Van Driving Hints

To make your TLS experience as easy as possible, we've put together a few tips to help you out:

When you're driving, its easy to forget that vans are significantly taller than cars, so always be mindful of bridge height clearance signs and low hanging tree, power and telephone cables.

Vans are longer and wider than cars so they have a wider turning radius. Also, because they have a higher centre of gravity than cars, you should try take turns more slowly and use a spotter and external mirrors to help you when reversing. Practice driving on a car park if possible.

Vans are heavier than cars and need more braking distance. If possible, you should avoid abrupt manoeuvres and be cautious of blind spots when changing lanes. Ask our branch staff to explain the van handling to you.
